The Huidekoper family is quite possibly one of the most important
founding families in Northwestern PA! Four generations of Huidekopers
spent their lives in Meadville and beyond beginning with Holland Land
Company President Harm Jan Huidekoper through his descendants, this
family has left their marks on NWPA and Meadville. Land tycoons, world
travelers, starving artists, and more descend from these roots and The
Baldwin- Reynolds House Museum will display much of their lives and
belongings. Just a few of the featured artifacts in this exhibit will
include a Latin Choral Book dating to the 1300s, fine European Artwork,
artifacts retrieved on International tours, and more! Wednesday-Sunday
12noon through 4pm.

Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tour is celebrating its 49th year on the lake.  Sit back and relax on an hour-long cruise on Lake Wallenpaupack as your tour guide describes the area and the history behind this charming Lake Region.  The cost is $14/adults, $13/seniors, $10/children.  Hours are 11am-6pm (Peak Season), noon-4pm weekends (Off Season).  Please call for specific daily tour times.

 The Milford Music Festival is back.  Music will radiate from the porches, sidewalks, and other venues throughout the historic town of Milford.  Specials sidewalk sales are planned for the same weekend. 

 Pocono Raceway will host the Pennsylvania 500 Sprint Cup Race on Sunday, August 1, with events leading up to the race all weekend. Pocono Raceway will host the Pennsylvania 500. Long recognized as one of NASCAR's most competitive raceways, Pocono's unique 2.5 mile track features three turns, each with its own degree of banking.  New this year, fans can go green to the raceway! Fans can park and ride in on private, air conditioned charter buses from the following locations:  Wilkes-Barre, Montage Mountain, Downtown Scranton, Delaware Water Gap, Mount Pocono, Tannersville, Milford, Greentown/Hawley, Hazleton and White Haven via a new bus service provided by Destination Pocono.

Almost everyone is familiar with GPS these days, but did you know that you can use your GPS to find buried treasure?  This interactive program will teach you the basics of Geocaching, which is a global high-tech scavenger hunt.  Borrow GPS units from the park (limited) or bring your own (only if you know how to use it, please).  The program is free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.  The Introduction to Geocaching will be held from 4-5:30pm at Auditorium near Amphitheater. 

 You’re on hand for the taping of the WRIP Network’s hottest TV game
show, “You Bet Your Life,” where any member of the studio audience can
walk away with a million dollar cash prize. Unfortunately, someone is
about to make a deadly wager and end up paying the ultimate price for
it. Will your super sleuthing solve the crime…or will the culprit beat

 Stop by the B-R to step back into a bygone era that is all but
forgotten. Agricultural, quilting, and other rural exhibits will fill
the Baldwin-Reynolds House with live music, a bake sale featuring items
from Katherine Reynolds' personal cookbook, and demonstrations on rural
life and crafts. Beekeeping, The French Creek Antique Equipment Club,
Spinning and Weaving, Chair Caning, Embroidery, Woodworking, Cheese
making, and many more were featured at past events with these and more
expected for 2009. Be sure to stop in our 1860s kitchen to visit our
very own country farm wife and the Crawford County Pomona Grange. See

Follow the (simulated) trail of freedom seekers through the Endless Mountains; meet the abolitionists who assisted; learn of those who chose to settle & contribute to society.

 Have you ever been paging through a wildflower guide trying in vain to find the name of a wildflower?  Would you like to learn why witches cherished nightshade, how bachelor's buttons got its name and much more?  Take a walk on Tree Tower Trail with the park educator and a Penn State Master Gardener to learn how to identify wildflowers using Newcomb's Wildflower Guide.  The program is free of charge and will be held from 2-3pm.

Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands reveals how the ancient, horse-riding nomadic cultures of Mongolia and Central Asia during the late second and first millennia BCE used the animal world as a source of symbols to indicate tribe, social rank and connection to the spirit world. Ancient Bronzes illuminates their influence both on and by the culture of dynastic China, as well as how the steppe peoples facilitated trade and travel along the Silk Road across Asia. Organized and on loan from the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation (NYC), this traveling exhibition features more than 80 masterpieces of Eurasian steppe art, including bronze belt buckles, plaques, pendants, ornaments and weapons. Animal motifs such as antlered stags, wild boars and birds of prey are a primary theme and visitors will be enchanted by the artistic expression found in a functional form. These objects were made to be practical and conform to a nomadic lifestyle yet they were created with an artistic sensibility that transcends centuries of time.  Masked marauders on horseback, a sack of loot and a train full of passengers are all part of the Strourbridge Line Rail Excursions Great Train Robbery Runs.  This is the 18thyear of treating the Line's riders to a "real" robbery aboard the Sunday round-trip excursions from Honesdale to Hawley.  Tickets are $22/adult and $17/children under 13 years of age.  The excursion departs from the Wayne County Visitors Center at 1pm.  Rides will be held every Sunday.
