Johnny Cash always stood at the crossroads of American popular music.
With open arms, he welcomed just about any musical style, and he knew
how to tell a story in song. Ring of Fire lets six incredible singers
relate that American tale through Cash’s own music and lyrics. It’s all
here. Growing up dirt-poor, wrestling with family tragedy, striking out
on his own, emerging as a songwriter, finding June Carter, the love of
his life…with over 30 hits, like Walk the Line, Jackson, I’ve Been
Everywhere, Folsom Prison Blues, A Boy Named Sue and the title track,
Ring of Fire. With smashing medleys and amazing harmonies, this shindig
will have you stompin’ your feet and shoutin’ for more!

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto
the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move
from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the
inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't
prepared for are rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing
instituted by the local preacher, determined to excercise the control
over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the
reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck
boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals
eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that
emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and a young man
aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of
its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack albun reached
number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million
copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musica,
Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding
them with a warm heart and an open mind. July 16-17, 23-24, 30-31, 2010

Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands reveals how the ancient, horse-riding nomadic cultures of Mongolia and Central Asia during the late second and first millennia BCE used the animal world as a source of symbols to indicate tribe, social rank and connection to the spirit world. Ancient Bronzes illuminates their influence both on and by the culture of dynastic China, as well as how the steppe peoples facilitated trade and travel along the Silk Road across Asia. Organized and on loan from the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation (NYC), this traveling exhibition features more than 80 masterpieces of Eurasian steppe art, including bronze belt buckles, plaques, pendants, ornaments and weapons. Animal motifs such as antlered stags, wild boars and birds of prey are a primary theme and visitors will be enchanted by the artistic expression found in a functional form. These objects were made to be practical and conform to a nomadic lifestyle yet they were created with an artistic sensibility that transcends centuries of time.
